Beginning Dance
A semester-long class. This is a modern dance class focused on creativity and movement. We’ll focus mainly
on the elements of dance while dabbling in dance history, physical fitness, and cultural dances such as African, Polynesian, Hip Hop, and Folk. We’ll get to choreograph and rehearse a class piece and perform it in a concert.
Intermediate Dance
A full year class. This is the stepping stone between starting dance here at BLHS to being in the company; students traditionally take this class after the Beginning Class. We take a closer look at the elements of dance in order to refine our artistry and technical ability. We get more performance opportunities, building teamwork throughout the year.
Dance Company
A full year class and extra-curricular activity. Auditions for 2013-2014 company will be May 6th-8th in the BLHS Dance Studio from 3:30-5:00. This is an advanced dance class focused on student choreography, preparing students for college-level dance. We attend college and professional dance company workshops throughout the year and perform at assemblies, homecoming, and community events. This is the class to aim for if you’ve taken beginning dance and have found a love for the art.
