Art A: Foundations I
An introductory class that prepares students with the beginning art skills based on the art principles and
elements of design. Using pencil, colored pencils, plaster, acrylic and watercolor paint as a way to explore different types of media as students begin to express their understanding of art.
Art B: Foundations II
Students need to successfully complete Foundations I in order to take Foundations II. This class
focuses on using a variety of media, after students have showed mastery of the art elements and principles of design. By the end of the class students are working on a final project of their choice, showing mastery in one media and self-directed learning.
Jewelry Making A: Foundations I
This is an entry-level course for the High School Visual Arts Core Curriculum. It is designed to provide an overview by introducing students to Jewelry Arts by studying a variety of art tools and materials. With an emphasis on studio production, this course is designed to develop higher level thinking, art-related technology skill, art criticism, art history, and aesthetics.
Jewelry Making B: Foundations II
Students need to successfully complete Jewelry Making A in order to take Jewelry Making B. This class focuses on using a variety of jewelry making media, after students have showed mastery of the basic jewelry making principles they will design their own jewelry. By the end of the class students are working on final projects of their choice, showing mastery in one media and self-directed learning.
